The Haynes Family- Columbus, Ohio

The Haynes Family! Emmy, Mike and their three kids Ellie, Brian, and David are a very nice, welcoming and energetic family from Columbus, Ohio. I first met them back in 2008 while I was in my Junior year studying photography at Columbus College of Art and Design. They were my first real photo gig where I actually got paid. I had such a fun time photographing them that we became very close. They are my second family and their kids are the little brothers and sisters I never had. Now, almost four years later since my first photo shoot with them, they want me to update their walls with new family photos. Towards the end of the photo session we decided to re-create the infamous Haynes family photo posted above on the left from my first photo shoot with them. I love this family photo because it totally captures the spirit of the Haynes family all in one photo-happiness! Taking photos of this family makes me happy and I hope they make you happy too. I cannot get enough of these kids; they are so entertaining. Maybe three years from now we can re-create this family photo again. I am looking forward to it. The Haynes's just recently added a sixth member to the family, Trace, a border collie mix.

(Luckiest Day ever!!!!!)

Most of the things I share on my blog are photos but my show consists of mostly graphically designed mixed media paintings revolving around skateboards. I am not a skateboarder, but I am a photographer that likes to design skateboards as if I was one. I would love to get into designing skateboards, surfboards as well as snowboards. For some reason my head is in a skateboard world right now and I do not know why but I am enjoying it. I will be posting more photos of some more work from the show soon! Enjoy!

I had so much fun helping decorate for one of my good friends Ashley Rodrick's bridal shower. I was in charge of party favors and flowers. So why not combine the two? I had a tight budget so I decided to recycle classic Coca-Cola glass bottles into vases so people could take the flower arrangements home with them. Ashley loves color so I ended up spray painting the bottles with rubber bands on them using floral spray paint. I used Flat White floral spray paint for the base coat and the colors I used on top were: Robin Egg Blue, Aspen Yellow, Orange and Perfect Pink. These bottles totally help transform her friend, Bridgette's backyard into an elegant bridal shower. After adding simple colorful flowers and vintage bed sheets for tablecloths you have a very inviting bridal shower luncheon table and a vases for all the guests to take home with them with fresh cut flowers all for under 100$. I hope to make more of these and sale them on Etsy soon!

Ashley Rodrick and Peter Tomsic are engaged! I have known them since their relationship started over five years ago while Ashley was a freshman in college. Now we are two years out of college and Ashley is getting married in September. I am so very happy with these photos that I have to say that they are probably my all time favorite photos I have ever taken. That is why their is so many. I had a problem trying to edit down. We photographed around sunset on Lake Erie in East Cleveland, Ohio. My favorite place and time to shoot. Enjoy.

My new favorite clothing store....All Saints Spitalfields

So my last trip to New York City I fell in love with this clothing store that some how I had never heard of, called All Saints. I just loved their window and store displays. They had a great collection of old wooden shoe horns, sewing machines and gears. Very industrial.

I think I instantly fell in love with all of their clothes, especially the Aztec Dazzle dress posted above. I have not been able to stop thinking about it since I left New York City almost a month ago. It retails for 350$. It is of course out of my price range so I can only dream of how I would style it. I love mixing pretty with rugged so I went through and picked out some of the accessories on All Saints website help finish the outfit. I love mixing different fabrics such as the sequins with the leather and the fringe with suede. It helps give off this sexy, yet classy, bad-ass vibe that I have been craving lately. Ugh, I love clothes and I love fashion.

The Highline!

There are other places in Manhattan that has trees besides Central Park. All you have to do is look up next time you are in Chelsea. Yes, The Highline is an above ground park built over an old train track. No trains have run on the Highline track since 1980. The Highline Park is probably one of the coolest recycled, renovated, eco-friendly spaces I have ever seen. It is free and definitely worth checking out next time you are in the city.

I love taking pictures of billboards and advertisements. I found this advertisement rather amusing.

I found it kind of cool to turn this photo of a modern movie poster into an old timey looking photograph. The old architecture really adds to it.

The Chelsea Market in New York City is very cool filled with little one of a kind shops. Its weird you feel like you are underground yet outside at the same time. You can get to the newly renovated Highline Park from Chelsea Market. We just stopped in Chelsea Market real quick to grab some ice cream and coffee. I grabbed some delicious Butter Pecan Ice Cream from the Ronnybrook Farm Dairy while my my family grabbed some coffee and we chilled in front of Amy's Breads where you can find delicious baguettes. The whole time we were sitting down the line never ended.

So recently I have found myself very jealous of people having an iphone with the instagram app. I love how instant you can turn a regular snapshot into art. My friend found me a link to someone that makes actions through photoshop that I can download for free. So I decided to test them out on some of these pics. I am pretty satisfied. The Hudson Highlands!

I met up with some of my family in New York City over Memorial Day weekend. This was my 5th time to the city and was excited to do something a little different like actually leaving the city and visiting some of the country side. My cousin Spencer, the tour guide, decided to take us on a day hike through The Hudson Highlands Breakneck Ridge Trail. It is the highest point and the greatest view of the Hudson River Valley. It was hard to believe that the hike was only a half mile long but the incline was so steep it took us practically all day to climb up. This was not just an average day hike this was a rock climbing adventure. This was probably the most intense hike I had ever done but it was worth it!!

Tagged along on a road trip to Chicago this past weekend riding hump with four other good guy friends. We were traveling to celebrate our friend Brad Kleinman's 30th birthday celebration. Even though I was only in Chicago for a short amount of time I immediately fell in love with the city. I wish I visited this place right after college! I got to see one of my good friends Zack Fagin that I had not seen since our college Graduation almost two years ago. I loved Lincoln Park, Millenium Park, and all the outdoor activity that was always going on along side the lake. I wish Cleveland had all that great access to the lake fronts. I wanted to post some of my favorite pics from the trip and will have more to come.

Its been a crazy couple of months!

It has been awhile since I have blogged because these past couple of months have been crazy. Good Crazy!! This past February I was offered a position as a photographer for the best greeting card company in the world, American Greetings. Best day of my life! I also recently moved to Lakewood, Ohio where there is a lot of outdoor activity going on all the time. People walking dogs, running and biking everywhere. I am excited for this summer to bike, kayak, and travel all while taking many photographs. This summer I have already been to Pittsburgh and Chicago and am planning on going to New York City, Tennessee, and Des Moines for the Iowa State Fair! Stay posted for new pictures coming soon!

The Panthenon in Rome, Italy! Those of you that follow my blog I never finished putting up all of the pictures from my Europe trip last summer. Our last stop was Rome and I am just now, 6 months later, getting to posting the pictures from Rome. To refresh your memory the trip to Europe was a graduation present from my Grandparents last summer 2009.

The best pizza we had on the whole trip was at the Napoli train station. Who would have thought?

Our last day in Sorrento, Italy before my Grandparents and I set out on a train to Rome.

My grandmother soon to be 75 years old is still in great shape for walking everywhere in Europe with me.

I became very drawn to the modern, very stark white, smooth sculptures mixed in the environment of ancient architecture. This sculpture reminds me of the Mentos Freshmaker, and this sculpture resembles the dissolving stages in your mouth.

Over the summer I was fortunate enough to be accepted into the summer internship program at the American Greetings World Headquarters located in Cleveland, Ohio. I interned in the photo/ creative studio. My main responsibilities for the summer was to help create greeting cards through photographing, re-touching, and stylizing. These two photos I photographed along with Senior Photographer Mark Galbreath and Photo Stylist Tina Elkins and will be sold in stores nationwide in Target and Wal-Mart Summer 2010!! So I am a little late posting these portrait shots from early summer. Anna is the older one and Sophia is the younger one. These photos were shot in June, some in Franklin Conservatory Park and some in there backyard in Columbus, Ohio. I could not ask for more behaved kids. They are very polite and love getting there picture taken. I would not be surprised if they grow up to be art directors because they actually were suggesting locations around the park to shoot. Some of these shots will be going in my portfolio.

This was the coolest thing I have ever done in my life. The photo does not do it justice on how adventurous this stone contraption was. It was high off the rocky shore and narrow getting to the shelter at the end of it. It was very windy that day too which made a lot more daring.

My graduation present from my grandparents on my mom's side. This was my first trip out of the country. Our first stop was Paris, France. Next we traveled to the farthest western point which is Brest, France. After that we took a train to Venice, Italy. Next we went to Florence, Island of Capri, and then to Rome. After that we took a train back to Paris and flew back to America. What a great time and something I totally want to experience again!

Ashley Rodrick's cousin Elizabeth Zenobi just recently moved to the Columbus area. Elizabeth used to work for a huge advertising agency in New York City and decided to settle down and have her first child Sonya. Sonya is almost one year old. It was a great week weather wise so Ashley decided to introduce me to her cousin and new second baby cousin and I decided to help her out with some portraits. Isn't she the most darling baby ever? Ashley Rodrick, my roommate all through college is pictured below.

Our awesome trip to a cabin in the Smoky Mountains squeezed into a tiny music video. Hopefully this video shows the good times that were had and the bonding times that were shared.
